The YHS Writing Center is a resource for students who seek to improve their writing in all curriculum areas. The Writing Center is staffed by trained peer writing coaches who have shown excellence in their own writing and want to help others to improve. The peer coaching process is designed to provide a low pressure atmosphere for students to get feedback and suggestions for improving writing. Our goal is to help improve your assignment and to help you learn how to improve all of your writing.

    Students of the writing center can be referred by a teacher or self-referred. Tutors can be accessed by appointment or on a walk in basis, but those who have an appointment are seen first. To make an appointment for the Writing Center students should send an email mrosenberg@yorkschools.org. Please put “writing center” in the subject line. Tutor availability can be checked on the schedule of appointments, but there may be availability beyond what is listed on the schedule, so don’t hesitate to contact us to see if we can fit you in. Even if you don’t have an appointment, come down to the end of the English wing on the bottom floor and see if there is a writing coach available to help. If we can’t work with you right away we will make an appointment for you soon.

    The writing center is available to students of all ability levels. Every writer has room for improvement. Visit once or visit frequently to learn how to communicate your great ideas better.
